Cereals 2004 ‘the biggest ever’

ORGANISERS OF Cereals 2004 are promising it will be the biggest UK arable event ever staged.
With just two weeks to go, over 300 companies have been booked to exhibit at the vast 48ha site at Heath Farm, Leadenham, Sleaford, Lincolnshire.
This includes over 11ha of working demonstrations, the Sprays and Sprayers focus area and the 1ha Arable Event site, organised by Velcourt.
But event organisers Royal Agricultural Society of England are assuring visitors will not be held up in the vast queues that dogged the 2003 event.
“We have improved services including car parking, access and catering,” said RASE‘s David Storrar.
On show will be new tools, new kit and new ideas to take farming forward – more can be found in FWi‘s new Cereals 2004 show special .
Event sponsor HSBC bank is hosting two days of farming forums , bringing together leading UK agriculture leaders to discuss the future of the farming industry.
“We expect lively debates on a whole range of issues,” said Micheal Summers, senior manager at HSBC Agriculture.
“But primarily the focus will be on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as the cereals industry moves into an unsupported marketplace.”
The Sprays and Sprayers demonstration arena has been expanded to accommodate a continuous programme of 41 sprayers.
“It remains the leading spray technology event in Europe,” said Tom Robinson, application specialist with event sponsor Syngenta.
Home-Grown Cereals Authority, one of the shows biggest exhibitors, will be showcasing new additions to its line-up of interactive tools.
Specialists will provide information on the HGCA Recommended Lists, while marketing advice will be on hand from millers and maltsters, who will be joining the HGCA team on the stand.
New in the Arable Event plots, managed by Velcourt, is a Septoria resistance management demonstration, seed treatments and a nitrogen demonstration.
