Champman Machinery livestock feeder is ready for tough terrain

Devon ATV attachments company Chapman Machinery has launched an electric-drive trailed livestock feeder that is designed to provide supplementary feed for livestock all year round.

The TF350 is a 350kg capacity, spaced-drop feeder designed primarily for use behind ATVs and UTVs. Ground clearance is 300mm on the standard model and 350mm on the HS version and the unit is designed to cope with the UK and Ireland’s typically tough livestock terrain.

Drop size can be quickly varied between 0.5kg and 2kg and the TF350 has a galvanised hopper and steel guards around the drive components to protect them.

Drive is via a geared electric motor and an electronic control box gives push-button operation. The standard box employs a simple two-button operation and digital counter, while the higher-spec model has a programmable countdown-counter. That means farmers can concentrate on the stock, says James Chapman, leaving the counter to meter out the required amount of feed.

“The TF350 is a simple-to-use, British designed and built machine at a keen price,” he adds. “Using electric drive gives a huge increase in ground clearance over drum-type machines, as well as having less moving parts.” The standard model comes with 22x11x8 flotation tyres, mudguards and electronic control box and sells for £1,350. The TF350-HS comes with 24x12x12 traction tyres, as well as a programmable electronic control box, and retails for £1,650.

A road-legal option featuring suspension, road tyres and lighting kit is due to be released in April 2014.
