Claas Xerion and Kaweco tanker hit the fields

Oxfordshire contractor Charlie Baker is the first person in the UK to run the giant Claas Xerion and Kaweco slurry injector combination first shown at Grassland and Muck last year.
It’s a piece of kit you can’t help but be impressed by. A 388hp Class Xerion provides the power, with a 24cu m (24,000-litre) Kaweco slurry tanker behind it putting slurry into the ground via 40 trailing shoes arrayed across a 7.5m width.
This could be a tricky bit of kit to tow, but the swan neck hitch means that a big chunk of the weight of the tanker falls just behind the Xerion’s rear axle.
Once the spreading closed season ends tomorrow, Mr Baker will start using the ÂŁ300,000 machine in earnest.
