Contract-free, refillable fire extinguisher can cut your costs

Lincolnshire fire safety company Safelincs is one of the first to start selling a new self-maintenance fire extinguisher that it claims has the potential to save farms hundreds of pounds in servicing costs.
Britannia Fireworld extinguishers are guaranteed for 10 years, do not need a refill after five years and just require an annual check that can be carried out quickly and easily by the owner without the necessity to call out a service engineer. That compares with a total cost of up to ÂŁ550 over the 10-year life of the extinguisher when service contracts and refills are taken into account.
In addition they are made from plastic and strengthened with Kevlar. “This means that they will not rust or corrode,” explains Harry Dewick-Eisele, managing director of Safelincs. “So they can be used outdoors as well as indoors and have applications in more challenging environments such as farm outbuildings, stables and warehouses.
The extinguishers conform to European standards and are accepted by insurance companies. Both the foam and powder versions cost ÂŁ119 including VAT.
