New triple hopper for Amazone Cirrus Grand 8m drill

Growers on 24m tramlines wanting more drilling capacity are being catered for by an 8m version of Amazone’s Cirrus cultivator drill.
The newcomer slots into the range between the current 6m Cirrus 6003-2C and 9m 9004-2C Grand, and comes with a new triple compartment hopper of 5,900-litres capacity.

The Cirrus deploys two rows of fixed-angle serrated or more aggressive notched discs ahead of a mid-mounted tyre packer to complete seed-bed preparation while sowing.
Further soil working is available by fitting a knife roller across the front of the drill or paddle-type levelling tines mounted either up front or immediately ahead of the discs.
Another option is to install fluted discs cultivating in a strip tillage layout.
Three-section tank
In place of the 9m Cirrus Grand’s two compartment hopper, the new 8m version has a larger structure with three divisions in a 40:50:10 configuration.
With products metered individually before heading down the same coulter tube, the drill can sow oilseed rape with fertiliser and slug pellets, or wheat with fertiliser and microgranules.
Standard row spacing is 166mm, as on the 9m Cirrus, but 125mm is also available on the 8m, with individual row shut-off allowing 250mm row spacing in addition to minimising oversowing on angled headlands and where passes converge.
The new AutoPoint feature, also available on the 9m Cirrus Grand, improves shut-off and switch-on timing accuracy by calculating how long it takes for seed to get from the metering unit to each coulter.
There is tramlining flexibility too, with symmetric or asymmetric patterns available through the isobus control electronics.
