Kuhn goes large with 350hp-rated 6m RCS folding power harrow
A 6m Kuhn HR 6030 RCS power-seeder outfit in action © Kuhn Growers who like to sow as they till and are fans of the power harrow have a new 6m option in Kuhn’s HR RCS line-up.
This centre-split folding series has a frame designed to take various seeding equipment for grain, oilseeds and even precision-sown crops such as sugar beet, fodder beet, forage maize and so on.
The RCS harrow has been available in 4m, 4.5m and 5m sizes, so the 6m HR 6030 RCS offers the ability to cover 20% more ground with every pass than the previous largest model and 50% more than the smallest.

Implement linkage lift capacity needed is mitigated to some extent by mounting the seeding bar on the consolidating roller frame.
Doing so keeps it as close as possible to the two 10-rotor beds, each rotor being fitted with DuraKuhn carbide-coated Fast-Fit tines.
Kuhn reckons the newcomer needs at least 240hp fed into its central gearbox, which is rated at up to 350hp and protected by a cam-type overload clutch.
At 336 or 291rpm, achieved by inverting the gearbox cogs, the rotors run a little faster than those on smaller versions, which spin at 314 or 228rpm.
In the UK, Kuhn offers a choice of two packer rollers: the 590mm shark-fin Megapacker and a 550mm diameter Steelliner, comprising steel rings around a large tube.
Front-mounted tank options comprise the TF 1512 single hopper with capacities of 1,500 or 2,000 litres, and the 2,360-litre TF 2300 C divided hopper that sends seed or a 60:40 split of seed and fertiliser to the sowing kit.
Precision sowing is handled by an eight-row, mechanical-drive Kosma CSM outfit, while a three-way choice of Suffolk, single-disc and double-disc coulters are available for grain and oilseeds.
