Explorer’s second coming

ITALIAN MANUFACTURER Same has revamped its Explorer tractor range by introducing two new medium horsepower models.

The two models to join the range are the Explorer Classic and the Explorer New 95. Both rated at 90hp, the machines are aimed at livestock units and mixed farms.

Stockman’s tractor

The Explorer Classic will principally be sold as a no-frills stockman’s tractor, according to the company. A 40 forward/40 reverse gearbox is used, with an electro-hydraulic splitter providing high and low ratios within each selected gear.

The cab of the Explorer Classic is identical to that fitted to the previous Explorer II 90 Top model.

It is the Explorer New 95 which sees most change, including a 60 forward/60 reverse transmission, with a three-stage electro-hydraulic splitter offering high, medium and low in each gear. Furthermore, an optional forward-reverse hydraulic power-shuttle is mounted beside the steering wheel.

The Explorer New 95 is also equipped with Same’s luxury Q-cab that comes with tinted glass and a glass roof-panel. Air conditioning and an air suspension seat are optional extras.

In light of tougher emission regulations, the new tractors use Deutz water-cooled engines, a change from the traditional air-cooled units.

The new engines offer improved torque characteristics and have better fuel economy than their predecessors, says Same.
