Driveline improvements and a new stone guard option are evident on Kverneland’s latest tractor-mounted flail choppers for vegetation control.

The three-model Tersus line-up replaces the preceding FRO range, covering 2.3m, 2.8m and 3.25m working widths for tractors of 80-170hp.

All feature hydraulic side-shift – 250mm of movement in either direction from centre, so 500mm in total – and all can be operated on the front or back of a tractor without being reconfigured in any way.

Unlike the telescopic drive shaft needed to accommodate side-shift on the previous models, the Tersus machines have a simpler, potentially more durable fixed driveline, and the multi-vee belt drive now has manual tension adjustment.

Fundamentally, the balanced rotor, flail tip speed and hood design continue unchanged from the outgoing FRO product.

But there is the new option of a full-width rubber guard that sits behind the machine’s steel roller to discourage stones and other hard debris from being propelled beyond the confines of the hood.
