Spaldings launch clever engine unit
Spaldings has just launched a rather nifty new engine unit that can be converted into a pressure washer, pump or generator in a matter of seconds.
The base Evosystem unit consists of a 6.5hp Evolution petrol engine mounted in a wheeled tubular frame. But rather than tie this up to just one task, it has a handy quick-release coupling that allows different modules to be attached. All the operator needs to do is pick the attachment they want, line up the pins and push until it clicks into place.
The pressure washer attachment sits its own frame and comes complete with lance, brass pump and separate detergent system. Flow rate is 8 litres/min and it is rated to 175 bar pressure.
With its switchable voltage, the 2.4kw generator pod can deliver 110- or 230v. This should give enough grunt to power smaller workshop tools, but it isn’t man enough for welding duties.
The final attachment in the line-up is a 1,000litre/min pump. This has a sturdy cast iron impeller in an aluminium casing and can cope with solids up to 8mm in diameter.
