Combine and baler operators could make short work of daily blowdowns by treating themselves to Husqvarna’s new battery-powered wind-maker.

The backpack-style 570iBT is reckoned to be the most powerful of its type on the market, delivering a sustained 71.2m/sec gale and 35N of blow force – numbers to match that of commercial petrol models.

It’s currently available with a wide-bore end tube, but a scraper nozzle is apparently in the works.

Where debris doesn’t need blasting to the neighbouring postcode, operators can dial down performance through three stages on the joystick control.

There’s also a cruise control mode to maintain output without gripping the trigger.

How long it will sustain its performance depends on the batteries fitted.

It can run on one, two or three of the firm’s individual lithium-ion cartridges, which slot in horizontally to maintain an even weight balance and reduce the likelihood of dirt ingress.

Opting for a triple-up of Husky’s big 9Ah B540Li-X will see it deliver full power for 42mins.

These cost about £400 each and add a combined 21kg to the unit’s 8.9kg bare weight. Three of the smaller and lighter B360Xs will give 27mins of runtime.
