Jefferson Tools unveils lightweight 140A Mini Arc Welder

Jefferson Tools has added a lightweight, portable 140A Mini Arc Welder to its product range.

It runs on 230V single-phase power and draws just 13A, so will happily operate through a three-pin plug without tripping the electrics.

It is apparently generator-friendly, which, combined with its modest 3.2kg weight and 260x185x110mm dimensions, means it can be chucked in the cab and carried to a remote field or a livestock shed without a mains supply.

Features include an insulated gate bipolar transistor inverter, which the firm says helps produce a cleaner weld with less splatter; hot-start ignition and anti-stick to discourage the electrode from gluing itself to the workpiece.

Output can be adjusted on a dial alongside the digital display, from 20A for thin sheet metal to the 140A required for reasonably heavy structural steel.

The Londonderry-based firm has priced the welder at about £185 and is also offering it as part of a package that comprises a welding and grinding helmet, leather gauntlet gloves and a 10W rechargeable work torch.
