Makita DUC150 mini chainsaw offers single-handed cutting

Packing a chainsaw bar into a tool the size of a combi drill, Makita’s DUC150 pruning saw comes in handy for trimming small branches.

It might look like a toy to seasoned operators, but with a chain speed of 8m/sec and a 6in (150mm) bar, it can cut through decent chunks of timber.

There is also an integrated oiler, so users don’t have to remember to manually lubricate the chain.

Power comes from one of the firm’s 18V LXT battery packs, which fuel a 320W brushless motor.

Other features include a tool-free chain tensioning system and guards to keep hands well away from cutting teeth.

The DUC150 is available as a £267 kit with a battery and charger, or as a standalone tool for about £187.
