Stihl has added to its range of portable power packs with a model that provides 2,000Wh of capacity for running tools and charging batteries.

The PS 2000 joins the higher-powered PS 3000, offering 2kW of continuous output with a 4kW peak output available for short periods.

Durable lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) batteries are used to store this energy which Stihl reckons will maintain their performance for at least 3,000 charging cycles.

Tools, chargers and other 240V equipment can be connected via a pair of thee-pin sockets and there are twin USBs for phones and other small devices.

Multiple PS 2000s can be connected to provide larger outputs and it’s possible to add a solar charge controller. This allows the units to be charged via standalone solar panels or vehicle systems.

Users can keep tabs on battery life thanks to a front-mounted digital display and there are grab handles that make it easy to carry around.

It’s also IPX4 rated, meaning it can be used in rainy conditions and areas where it’s likely to get splashed with water. Retail price is £1,291.
