Fendt launches tech upgrades for Rotana round balers

Fendt’s Rotana balers have followed their Massey Ferguson RB counterparts in getting an extensive tech upgrade for 2023.

The technology allows them to analyse bale weight and moisture levels when the baler is used in combination with a Tractor Implement Management (TIM) capable tractor.

The maker claims that the Rotana is the first round baler on the market with a bale weighing system that doesn’t require constant calibration.

Instead, it uses a combination of three weighing cells to give the weight of the pressed bale.

When the weighing takes place, the machine compares its own total weight before and after the bale is ejected, and calculates the difference.

Moisture sensors

Moisture content is monitored by two sensors within the bale chamber, and triggers an alarm to warn the operator when conditions exceed the pre-selected moisture limit.

Data from the bale weight and moisture content is then recorded on a field-by-field basis, and stored on Fendt’s Task Doc system.

Automatic bale ejection

The German manufacturer has also added an automated bale ejection function to the Rotana balers.

After binding, the tailgate opens automatically, and closes once the bale is out.

On tractors with TIM systems, an automatic stop function is also available, which halts the tractor as soon as a bale is netted.
