VIDEO: NH weigh system takes the guesswork out of baling
Guesstimates are a thing of the past when it comes to recording the amount of material packed into bales thanks to the development of New Holland’s on-board weighing system for big square balers.
The dealer-installed mechanism is attached to the rear section of the standard bale chute of a New Holland BB9050, BB9060, BB9070 or BB9080 big square baler. A damped pivot allows the weighing platform to tilt as the bale slides into place, briefly isolating it from the rest of the machine and the following bale, as shown in this short video:
New Holland says trials comparing this on-the-move system with stationary weighing have confirmed its accuracy to be within plus or minus 2%, even when operating on sloping ground.
The weighing system compiles a record of individual bale and whole-field weights on the baler’s IntelliView performance and settings monitor and other ISOBUS-compatible terminals. This keeps the operator informed throughout the day and stores the information for later use.
For contractors, the system allows accurate charging for straw, hay and silage baling by weight rather than on a price per bale basis.
