Kemper maize headers get comfort boosting transport wheel

Kemper has tweaked the design of its 400Pro maize headers, adding an optional integrated transport wheel that promises a smoother ride on the road.
This is mounted on a hydraulic arm in the centre and deploys as the table folds from work to transport mode – a process that takes just 30sec.

Thanks to castor mounting, it can turn freely with the machine to improve manoeuvrability and reduce tyre wear.
Plus, there’s built-in suspension with sufficient articulation for it to glide over undulating road surfaces.
Other features of note include integrated hydraulically driven side knives for easing progress in tangled crops and visibility enhancing LED lights.
Largest of the line-up is the pictured 490Pro, which packs six drums across its 9m working width and, thanks to a neat double folding mechanism, tucks to just 3m for on-road sorties.
Four-drum, 7.5m 475Pro and 6m 460Pro models are also available, as well as a more compact 4.55m 445.
As Kemper is owned by John Deere, headers to suit the brand’s new F8 and F9 forager harvesters are delivered in matching green-and-yellow paintwork.
However, those destined to appear on the front of rival brands leave the factory in regular Kemper-red livery.
