Lamma 2026: Prinoth BM430 snow groomer hits UK silage clamps

Ski slope taming might be a piste basher’s primary vocation, but it turns out they’re equally adept at building massive silage clamps.

So much so, that Wigan-based engineering firm Bradleys Machinery has begun importing Italian-built Prinoth machines precisely for this purpose.

It then sets about subtly modifying them to turn their focus from snow drifts to heaps of chopped grass.

Power is plentiful, with the pictured BM430 model packing a 12-litre Mercedes V6 diesel that’s good for 430hp and 2,000Nm of torque.

This is allied to a hydrostatic transmission, which drives twin rubber tracks. Despite having a large surface area, the vibration of these units during work means they do an efficient job of compacting the grass, says Bradleys.

Up front, the firm fits a custom 5m adjustable blade that folds to 2.8m, allowing the machine to be transported on a low loader.

And, to the rear, it installs a 2.2t counterweight that doubles up as a push bar when reversing.

Additional tweaks include the fitment of a Stage 5 exhaust system to meet the latest emissions regs, modified rear bodywork and a custom paint job.

Guide price for the pictured brand-new example is £200,000.
