Continuing demand for well-prepared used potato harvesters has prompted Grimme to construct a new building dedicated to its refurbishment operation, as well as supporting testing of various prototypes.

Located on a new industrial park in Rieste, nine miles south-west of the beet and potato specialist’s headquarters plant at Damme in north-west Germany, the 5,500sq m facility houses a large workshop area, covered washing bay and offices.

The more than 30 experienced staff members employed there are also available to bolster new machine production when needed.

The firm has a new parts storage facility in Germany that it says has increased order picking efficiency by up to 40% and delivery speed by 20%.

Grimme acquired the former E-bike building last year and kitted it out for its new parts logistics role before filling it with more than 12,000 different line items.

These were previously held at Grimme’s headquarters factory in an area now used for supplying materials for manufacturing and assembly.
