Big tyres sporting advanced features for combines and other large harvesters are the latest addition to the BKT Agrimax farm tyre range.

The Pro Harvest design will be available in three sizes initially, with nominal widths of 1,000mm, 900mm and 800mm, all fitting on 32in rims.

They are constructed to VF (very high flexion) norms with a tough but very flexible sidewall structure.

This allows inflation pressures that result in a longer and slightly wider footprint than a non-VF tyre can provide.

Apart from distributing the weight of the combine more effectively in this way, the Pro Harvest tyres are categorised CFO (cyclic field operation).

This allows temporarily for a higher load than would otherwise be the case.

It recognises that combines reach peak weight when the grain tank is near full and operate only briefly in that condition.

Tyres with the CFO rating can be run at a lower inflation pressure than would normally be recommended for such a load.

The tyre design features polyester carcass reinforcement and three layers of steel belt to support the overall structure.

The synthetic rubber compound is said to have high cut and penetration resistance to minimise the risk of punctures and abrasion.

Effective self-cleaning is also promised, as well as good traction characteristics despite the rounded outer ends of the lugs.
