Higher torque levels for Case Magnum 335 tractors

Case has a new flagship cultivations tractor.
As its name suggests, the Magnum 335 is rated at 335hp and tops out at 368hp. More impressively, it boasts the highest torque levels of any standard tractor in the world: 1566Nm @1500rpm.
The extra grunt has been achieved by altering the combustion chamber and piston design, with the result that the 9-litre engine is claimed to consume over 3% less fuel compared to an engine of similar power output.
To handle this extra torque both front and rear axles have been beefed up. At Agritechnica the big tractor was displayed on four triangular tracks sourced from Dutch firm Westtrack. It’s just a concept at present but Case dealers could soon be adding an alternative Quadtrac to their armoury.
Although based on the same platform as the Magnum, the New Holland equivalent differs in the way that power is transferred to the gearbox from the flywheel.
The T8050’s engine is a structural component of the tractor and is coupled directly to the transmission to give it a rated output of 325hp.
In contrast, the Magnum’s chassis-mounted motor transfers power via a drop-box that reduces overall speeds so that the tractor develops its rated power output at a lower 2100rpm.
