John Deere adds 2wd 5E tractor to range
John Deere has added a new two-wheel drive model to its 5E range of utility tractors.
The 55hp open station 5055E is the only model in the range offered with 2WD, but otherwise features the same specifications as the 4WD 5055E, 5065E and 5075E models.
The 5055E is aimed for use on dairy farms while also being suitable for smallholders and equestrian centres.
It is available ex-factory with 6.0×16 Goodyear front tyres and 14.9×28 Goodyear rear tyres only, and can be adjusted to a variety of track widths from 1.5 to 2m (59.6 to 79.7in).
The 5055E is powered by a Tier III intercooled three-cylinder PowerTech M engine with turbocharger and viscous fan. The synchronised 9F/3R in-line transmission follows an H pattern and can be shifted on the move via side-shift levers within the range.
Lift capacity is 1.8 tonnes at the hitch balls, and the tractor can be fitted with a choice of two mechanical self-levelling or non self-levelling loaders, with lift capacities of either 873kg or 989kg to a maximum lift height of 3.38m. A foldaway roll-over frame is fitted as standard, and a two-post sun protection canopy is available as an option.
Basic list price of the new John Deere 5055E 2WD tractor is £13,505 (ex VAT).
5G Series tractors get new transmission option
A new 24 forward/12 reverse PowerReverser transmission is now available for the 5G Series tractors from 80 to 100hp, including the GF (fruit) and GV (vineyard) models. An electric left-hand reverse lever and a reliable long-life clutch design makes these tractors ideal for front-loader work and for uphill starts with heavy implements or trailers.
