Join Farmers Weekly’s machinery team as a writer

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative and organised individual to join the team at Farmers Weekly as machinery reporter.

This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who would enjoy reporting on the latest developments from the world’s machinery makers.

You could be working in agriculture with a talent for writing, or be an ambitious journalist with a background in farming and an interest in the equipment that powers it.

The role also involves testing kit, large and small – from tractors and combines to GPS systems and workshop tools – and explaining the ins and outs of them to British farmers and contractors, whether in a written article, via a graphic, a video or a tweet.

The right candidate will be someone who is comfortable talking to farmers, contractors, dealers and manufacturers to produce factual, easy-to-understand reports from launches, shows, conferences, press releases and phone conversations.

Developing interesting story ideas and keeping to tight deadlines are essential, along with a keen interest in multimedia journalism. The role is predominantly based in Sutton, Surrey, but remote working is possible, and you will be required to travel extensively throughout the UK and overseas.
