Krone Big M knocks down the acres
Doing the rounds at Grassland for the first time in the UK was Krone’s Big M 500 self-propelled mower. Putting out more than 500hp, and promising workrates of up to 20ha/hour, the 500 has a working width of 13.2m, provided by a 5.3m front-mounted mower and two 4.4m side units.
Power is supplied by a longitudinally-mounted 6-cylinder 12.5-litre Mercedes engine and drive is via four hydrostatic wheel motors. Four-wheel steer enables the machine to be agile enough to deal with smaller fields, says Krone, while the Swath System allows all three mowed widths to be left in one width should the operator want.
