Lamma: Kuhn fertiliser spreader weighs in

This year’s LAMMA show takes place at the Newark Showground on 16 and 17 January. Andy Collings highlights some of the new products that will be on display.

A record number of companies are expected to exhibit at LAMMA 2008. In fact the organisers have announced that, with 470 exhibitors signed up, the show is officially full. It’s a situation that many other agricultural shows would be envious of.

While the every-other-year Agritechnica event in Germany is becoming the show of choice for those wanting to see the latest European launches, for most UK farmers LAMMA provides the first opportunity to see new introductions in the flesh.

Taking centre stage on the Kuhn stand will be the company’s new-generation Axis twin disc fertiliser spreader – the Axis 40.1W – which now has an integral weigh cell system.

The weighing system enables a check to be made on the flow rate of fertiliser from the hopper and automatically opens or closes the hopper outlet aperture to maintain the required application rate.

Kuhn says it will also be revealing a new tine coulter pneumatic seed drill. The Megant, which is designed for use in minimum cultivation regimes, is available in working widths from 4m to 6m in six models and employs the manufacturer’s Venta seed metering system.
