Maize potential under the spotlight at Cereals

The potential of growing maize for grain, forage or biofuels will be explained on the RW Agriculture stand at Cereals 2008.
The company will have plots of the crop planted under plastic and will also highlight the equipment required throughout the production process, including planting harvesting and processing. Examples of the finished product will also be on show.
“I personally think the biofuel production using maize within the digestion method will be the future, either producing electricity or methanol for road transport,” the firm’s Rob Wilkinson said.
“Utilizing the plastic for the growing of the biomass means we get a much earlier harvest, allowing for a good entrance for first wheat. It also means less soil structure damage and a higher yielding energy crop,” he added.
