Maschio could set up own UK company

Italian company Maschio Gaspardo had its own stand at Cereals for the first time, following its recent split from former importer Reco. It is expected that company will announce a strategy for bringing in its machines in the next two weeks, and this could be in the form of a subsidiary of Maschio itself rather than an importer. Reco will continue to sell Maschio power harrows until October.
Maschio’s stand at Cereals featured drills, flails, fertiliser spreaders and cultivators, as well as the more familiar power harrows. “We are keen to communicate to British farmers that we do not just sell power harrows,” explains sales manager Francesco Voltan.
One of the pieces of kit gaining the most attention was the heavy-duty Diablo cultivator, a subsoiler designed to go behind tractors ranging from 450hp to 600hp. The trailed machine has two rows of heavily-constructed forward-angled legs, with a working depth of between 25cm and 55cm. Suitable for heavy trash conditions, the legs are fitted with reversible side-mounted blades as well as points which work the top 10cm of the soil. These legs are followed by two rows of serrated discs that control the working depth as well as levelling the finish. Working widths of 5m, 6m and 7m are available.
