McCormick X7 pushes power up to 212hp

Italian maker Argo, which manufactures McCormick and Landini tractors, says that it will be offering both powershift and CVT options for its all-new McCormick X7 and Landini 6/7-series models.
They replace the McCormick X70 and current Landini 7-series models and were first seen in McCormick colours at the Sima show in Paris in the spring.
There are six powershift models that run from the 143hp X7.440/Landini 7.415 to the 212hp (boosted) X7.670/Landini 7.215. They will be joined by five CVT models with outputs up to 188hp max.
Four-cylinder 4.5-litre and six-cylinder 6.7-litre FPT engines will be on offer, with the biggest four-cylinder X7 model – the X7.460 – squeezing an amazing 175hp from its four cylinders. That makes it the most powerful four-cylinder tractor on the market.
For the first time, too, ZF transmissions are being used rather than the in-house option. These 24-speed Pro Drive units have six ranges and four powershift steps, plus robotised range shifting, shuttle modulation and speed matching.
Other key specs are total hydraulic power of 204 litres/minute, 9.3t rear lift and 3.5t front linkage capacity. Four pto speeds are offered, 540/540E/1000/1000E, and up to six remote valves can be fitted. A ride control system reduces shock loadings on implements on the road.
The cab is all-new, too, and 180mm wider between the doors than the current design with hydraulic suspension an option. A multifunction controller keeps things neat and a My Switch function allows you to activate autoshift, diff-lock, four-wheel drive and declutch functions.
The neat hideaway passenger seat folds away when not in use. On the maintenance front, the cooling pack features radiators that all open up for cleaning.
McCormick X7/Landini 6/7 models will be available from November this year.
McCormick X6/Landini 6C
The current McCormick X60/Landini Powermondial ranges will become the McCormick X6/Landini 6C range. There will be two models with FPT 4.5 litre engines, which span the 101-131hp range with 36×12 semi-powershift transmission, new hydraulics and other upgrades.
These will be joined later by larger 111-143hp models with the CVT transmission. This range will also replace the Perkins-powered McCormick MC.
McCormick X50/Landini 5-H
This eight-model stockman-oriented range replaces the McCormick T-Max. The four synchro-shuttle models come in 85hp, 95hp, 102hp and 113hp power outputs and have either 24×12 gearboxes or 36×16 versions.
Those wanting extra power can go for the Power Plus versions, which get extra hp on the X50.20, X50.30 and X50.40 models. Engines are 3.4-litre Perkins units and there’s a three-step powershift.
McCormick is heading up the horsepower league. Its all-new X8 range will initially consist of two models, the 230hp X8.670 and the 300hp X8.680.
Both will use 6.7-litre FPT engines and ZF-sourced CVT transmissions and the first public showing will be at the Eima show in November 2014.
