New John Deere 7430 and 7530 tractors provide a bit of spark with on-board generators

John Deere has let slip that some of its new models will feature a high voltage generator to take over formerly engine-driven ancillary tasks such as air conditioning.

Due to make their first appearnce at Agritechnica, the Deere E-Premium 7430 and 7530 (maximum power 200hp and 211hp) feature a crankshaft-driven generator feeding an ancillary network with up to 20kW.

This extra current is claimed to save up to 5% fuel by powering normally engine-driven services such as the air conditioning fans or the air compressor. Current also flows to two 230 and 400 volt sockets for implements such as electrically-powered fertiliser spreaders.
