Tractor registrations for the month of October 2008 have equalled those in the same month in 2007, according to recent AEA figures, which put those registered at 1047 units.
This brought the number of tractors registered so far in 2008 to 15,770, up 13.3% on the same period last year. Although August was down, September saw a distinct rise of 20%, said the AEA’s Chris Evans and October’s results were more than satisfactory, given the current climate.
“Order books are still strong, and although the last three months of 2008 are set to be below the rate they rose to earlier in the year, we are still looking at the best year for sales in a decade.”
Months to come will remain relatively buoyant, he added. “But, compared to last year, the degree of uncertainty in the market could mark a slowdown in the market.”
