Plastic floats cut odour emissions
REDUCING AMMONIA and odour emissions from a slurry lagoon can be a tricky task, but Hexa-Cover claims to have the solution.
By using small hexagonal plastic floats, the company creates an artificial crust on the slurry surface. The platelets are tipped into the slurry where they organise themselves into an enclosed cover.
Stirrers, pumps and agitators can be inserted through the crust as required.
The Danish manufacturer claims the Hexa-Cover system reduces gaseous emissions in proportion to the area covered. If 95% of the surface is covered, emissions should fall by a similar amount.
Said to have a life expectancy of 25 years, 35sq m worth of Hexa-Cover plastic platelets cost about ÂŁ25 (0045 9617 7800 or www.hexa-cover.dk)
