Precision Farming – Hardi and Knight sprayers see jump in GPS-based boom auto-shut-off sales

One of the most useful spin-off benefits of GPS is its ability (with the right kit) of automatically switching off the boom sections at the end of the row.
Not to mention switching them off sequentially, section by section (or even nozzle by nozzle) as the sprayer crosses a diagonal headland.
Peter Wiles from sprayer maker Hardi says the company has seen a distinct surge in boom auto-shutoff sales.
He expects 50% of bigger sprayers to come with the facility within 3-4 years.
David Main from Knight Sprayers said the firm has also seen a jump in boom auto-shutoff sales. It is available on all the firm’s sprayer models, he adds.
