RDS Technology weigher less prone to bounce

The latest version of RDS Technology’s Weighlog 200 on-board weighing system uses new software from its 9000 Loadmaster weigher range which works in industries like quarrying.
On-board weighing systems calculate the weight of the load by measuring the pressure of the oil in the hydraulic rams. However this can be difficult on tractors with load-sensing hydraulics and when the vehicle is accelerating or changing direction.
The main benefit of the new software, says the company, is that the weighing accuracy is much less affected by bucket bounce. It’s also less sensitive to the influence of load-sensing hydraulics, which constantly change the output of the hydraulic pump as the machine is being used.
The accuracy of the Weighlog 200 system can also now be improved by fitting a strain gauge that can take account of the effect of the slight bending of the boom when a heavy weight is being carried.
The system is designed mainly for telehandlers, though RDS also offers the Weighlog 100 system for tractor fore-end loaders. Cost with a single sensor starts at ÂŁ1,650.
The system will be on display at this year’s Dairy Event on 6 and 7 September.
