AVR adds Varioweb cleaning unit to latest spud harvester
The AVR Spirit 9200i with Varioweb cleaning module © AVR AVR’s novel Varioweb cleaning system – designed for especially challenging harvest conditions – is now available on the Belgian manufacturer’s latest trailed potato harvester as an additional option.
The “i” version of the Spirit 9200 two-row bunker harvester introduced last autumn brought a number of upgrades, including isobus control electronics, revised haulm removal and the option of a roller cleaning module positioned ahead of a revised pintle belt cleaning unit.

The standard roller module, made up of rubber-covered spiral and plain steel rollers, has speed and angle adjustment to regulate the crop’s exposure to the system, but the Varioweb version goes further.
It uses an extendable pintle belt to cover or expose as many rollers as deemed necessary for the conditions and cleaning performance needed – from all of them to none.
Being able to eliminate the roller module altogether avoids the skin damage that can result when lifting in very dry conditions as the rollers tend to be too abrasive.
The position of the pintle belt is rendered on the Isobus display for quick reference and there is a memory function so that settings for different conditions can be saved and recalled easily.
To minimise soil sticking to the components, the axial roller surfaces and pintle belt sidewalls are fashioned from stainless steel and/or plastic.
