North Yorkshire firm Ryetec has introduced a new heavy-duty range of horizontal wood splitters.

The machines are designed for contractors already using automated processing machinery but who are looking for increased capacity. It means large diameter, 3m long logs can be split before being fed through smaller-scale chopping equipment.

The new splitters are available in 30t, 40t and 50t models, but there’s also an 80t model for particularly heavy-duty applications.

They can be specified with splitting beds from 1-3m and with full hydraulic or wireless remote control operation. That means splitting massive bits of lower-value timber into manageable chunks ready for log production can be a one-man job.

Machines can be floor-, leg- or trailer-mounted, and can be built to suit customers’ exact requirements. Prices start from £1,750 and log lifting equipment can also be attached.
