Schools targeted by Dairy Council
SCHOOLS ARE being encouraged by the Dairy Council to install healthy vending machines selling a variety of milk products.
The organisation, who last week (w/e Apr 22) ran an exclusive vending seminar for the dairy industry, is trying to convince head teachers that the future should be white.
It is publicising the availability of a new drinks machine that vends all types of dairy products (milk drinks, cheese and yogurts) whatever the size or shape.
It is also pointing out that the Sodexho School Meals and Lifestyle Survey 2005 shows that the average 13-14 year-old has over ÂŁ15 a week to spend on food in school.
The Dairy Council’s campaign has been boosted by the news that the makers of BBC children’s programme Grange Hill has asked for a milk-only vending machine, branded ‘The White Stuff’, for the fictional school’s canteen.
It is understood that the next series will feature a story line based around the canteen.
