Merlo had two brand new machines on show for the first time, albeit in concept form, including what’s set to top the Multifarmer range.

The Multifarmer 40.9 CS, rated at 140hp and with 4t lift and 9m reach capacity, gains hydro-pneumatic cab suspension for the first time and the 7t three-point linkage means it’s able to cope with more in-the-field applications.

Before, the 30.9 model roughly compared with a 100hp class of tractor, but the larger machine is now in line with 120hp regular tractors, says Merlo. Meanwhile the P23.6 EV-SC marks a return to sub-100hp market and was also on the stand.

Both are expected towards the end of 2009 with possible launches at the German Agritechnica show in November.
