Spaldings unveils new heavy-duty flail topper

Lincolnshire firm Spaldings has launched its new 2.2m heavy-duty flail topper.
The offset rear topper has 32 forged flails which can deal with woody steams and grass, making it perfect for cutting field margins, verges and dyke banks, the company says.
The topper has a 10mm thick rotor shaft and 152mm diameter rear roller, which can be used to adjust cutting height. The gearbox drives a multi v-belt pulley system that can be tensioned, while a mechanical break-back system protects it from rocks and other solid objects.
It also has a hydraulically-adjustable tilt angle, says the company, which means the topper is capable of working at an angle of 90° vertical through to a downward angle of 70°.
The cost is ÂŁ9,000.
