Sprayer tests crowd reaction

John Deere has unveiled a prototype version of its first self-propelled sprayer for the European market. Still undergoing homologation, the machine has a 4000-litre capacity and is set to be available by 2007.

The use of current Deere technology and components is clearly evident – most obviously a 5020 tractor cab and the current Deere-style bonnet. Beneath the bonnet, a 200hp engine provides the power for the machine”s hydrostatic transmission.

The machine will be available with a host of Deere software packages, including GPS-guided automatic steering and a headland management system. A boom-suspension system is available which follows the ground contours and maintains a preset boom height.
