New Stocks Ag Maxi Jet spreads micro-granules to 15m

Getting seed or micro-granules distributed evenly across a 15m new spreading width takes some thinking through, but engineers at Stocks Ag reckon they have done just that in developing the new Maxi Jet.
What’s more, the new device, which builds on features of the popular Turbo Jet, is capable of handling very high rates – 200kg/ha across 6m, as an example – for specialist applications.

The Maxi Jet comes with two- or four-outlet metering units supplying new eight-outlet distribution heads, so implements can be fitted with up to 32 spreader plates.
If more are needed then bespoke heads, with up to 20 outlets, can be produced.
Using distribution heads mounted away from the core unit is a new approach for Stocks Ag, and it reduces the lengths of flow-restricting, small-bore pipe involved.
And to help achieve an even distribution over wide widths, a spiral-shaped riser in the 63mm hose that feeds each head gets the air swirling and the material spread out before it reaches the distribution chamber.
Fluted metering unit feed rollers are used again, with new high-capacity versions making it possible to handle small and large seeds alike at high rates and fast working speeds.
Stocks engineers say the metering system can also handle low rates of seed that do not flow readily.
Automatic speed-related rate control is provided for the Maxi Jet by the firm’s i-Con touchscreen monitor, or by a tractor’s isobus system, with variable-rate application also possible with a GPS connection.
