New fan drive sees Stocks Ag Jet go wider and faster

A new version of the Turbo Jet 10 from Stocks Ag has hydraulic drive to a 1,400cfm fan to deliver increased airflow, enabling faster forward speeds, wider working widths and high application rates.
Used mainly to apply seed and granular herbicides and pest control products from cultivators, rollers, comb harrows, drills and the like, the well-established unit has previously come only with electric motor fan drive for working widths up to 10m.

The upgrade to hydraulic drive produces sufficient extra airflow to apply small- to medium-sized seeds such as oilseed rape, clover, grass and mustard at high rates from 10m, as well as micro and larger granular products at low to medium rates across 15m.
Testing with a low rate of Avadex across this width recorded a coefficient-of-variation of just +/-5%, says Sean Stanfield of Stocks Ag.
The additional capability means the new Turbo Jet 10 Hydraulic can also allow host implements to operate at faster working speeds than before.
Remote mounting
Unlike integrated electric drive, introducing a hydraulic setup means the fan can be mounted remotely, making it easier to integrate with different host machines and to avoid especially dusty locations.
For example, mounting the fan unit on the main drawbar of a set of rolls with the applicator mounted at the back keeps dust intake – and the length of hydraulic pipes – to a minimum.
For precision, there is one metering segment an outlet and a new high-rate, 59mm diameter version to feed products to the wider working widths, high application rates at standard widths, or low-weight, high-volume products up to 15m.
This is in addition to the existing 50mm feed block kits that cater for a wide range of seeds and granular products.
The applicator comes with 10 or 20 outlets, a 240- or 400-litre hopper and a choice of Jackal or i-Con control units, or isobus connectivity for operation through a third-party display.
Stocks Ag’s Turbo Jet 10 Hydraulic is priced from £8,508 with a Jackal control unit, granular kit for Avadex herbicide and a 10-outlet broadcasting package.
