Spread-a-Bale develops Side Throw head for narrow passages

Cheshire-based Spread-a-Bale has introduced a new Side Throw head option for its range of straw spreaders.
The Side Throw’s narrow dimensions make it perfect for livestock farmers that have to negotiate tricky or narrow passages in barns, with a single vertical rotor expelling straw through a 40cm-wide aperture. The company claims this can reduce straw use by 30-50%.

Dependent on the variant it is fitted to – Mini, Midi, or Maxi – the vertical rotor height is either 90cm or 120cm (3ft or 4ft).
A standard rectangular bale can be distributed in 60sec, with straw channelled accurately into a metre-wide spread that can be directed up to 6m away.
Prices for standard Mini, Midi and Maxi models start at ÂŁ15,500, ÂŁ16,200 and ÂŁ17,200, respectively.
