GPS fertiliser control from Agri-Spread

Irish firm Agri-Spread has launched automatic GPS section control for its range of precision large trailed fertiliser and lime spreaders.

The Ballyhaunis, County Mayo-based manufacturer has designed a purpose-built section control system to accurately control the distribution of fertiliser at precise rates.

The firm claims to be the first company in the UK to design and manufacture an auto section control spreader for fertiliser and lime operations.

Key to this is a twin conveyor feed system, which regulates the fertiliser on to the spinner system. This allows automatic rate control to both spinners independently, while adjusting disk speed to control spread width and pattern.

Each section is turned on/off via the field guidance maps, with all the software controlled through Isobus.

Agri-Spread reckons this has the potential to reduce fertiliser use by between 5% and 20% depending on field size, shape and obstacles.

The range of models available with section control vary from 6,000kg to 25,000kg in single- or tandem-axle variants.
