German business Sam-Dimension, which is developing artificial intelligence-assisted weed map generation for spot and patch herbicide spraying, has attracted Horsch as an investor.

The two companies have worked together since 2019 and Horsch says this partnership is “moving to the next level” through a stake that will enable joint development of the technology and deeper integration into its equipment.

Sam-Dimension’s approach is to scout fields at up to 1ha/minute, capturing sub-2mm-resolution images that are processed in the camera.

Usually, such images are uploaded to the cloud and then analysed, but the Sam-Dimension method generates precise spot-spraying maps within 24 hours of the flight, which can be loaded to any sprayer equipped with isobus section control.
