Replacing the original steering wheel with an electrically powered version and installing other bits of kit brings satellite-based guidance to any tractor – and Kubota has introduced just such a package.

Priced from £5,500, the Value Line Steering kit sourced from Topcon comprises an XR-1 GNSS satellite signal receiver with built-in gyroscope and accelerometer, a 10in touchscreen display, and the XW-1 electrically powered steering wheel, with basic isobus implement control an option.

Operators can dial in pretty much any guided steering patterns, including straight, centre pivot, curved and custom.

More advanced features such as “headland turn”, “steer-to-boundary” to follow a field edge line, and “guidelock” to match a deviation from a straight guide – when passing around a tree or pylon, for instance – are also available.

Correction signals start with the Egnos service providing 15cm pass-to-pass accuracy and extend to other higher definition guidance up to an RTK setup with just 1cm accuracy, priced £7,545 plus a £650 12-month signal subscription.

Smart software means there is no need to fit a mechanical angle sensor for the front wheels, which simplifies DIY installation.

Dealers can do the job for a set fee of £695 on any Kubota machine with a steering wheel if buyers do not want to fit the kit themselves.
