New Agco tool assesses tractor AB lines from the farm office
Farm machinery behemoth Agco has launched Geo-Bird, a new online tool that allows farmers to plan and tweak their tractor guidance AB lines from the comfort of the office.
These lines are typically generated in the cab at the start of a job, but Agco says many growers expressed a desire to generate more efficient ones during the off-season.
Through its global open platform for digital farming products, Fuse Smart Farming, the company has come up with a solution in the form of a free web app.
This allows farmers and contractors to plan fieldwork outside the rush of narrow working windows, particularly when they’re dealing with fields that are new to them, irregular shaped, or sloping.

Geo-Bird’s advanced algorithms analyse the field shapes and working widths of implements to determine the optimal AB line routing.
Three potential AB lines are calculated, and a manual direction can be entered for comparison, too.
Time savings, wheel traffic area and numbers of turns are displayed for each calculated route, allowing the user to see the differences and potential efficiency savings.
The desired routing can then be downloaded in the right format for direct use on the farmer’s terminal in the cab, simply by choosing the appropriate guidance system from an extensive list of third-party brands.
A free upgrade incorporating field topography into calculations will be available imminently.
