Telehandler-mounted Mektron Beaver saw tames unruly hedges
© James Andrews One of the first products to launch under PJM Agri’s Mektron machinery brand is the telehandler-mounted Beaver rotary saw. This overgrown-hedge-taming tool is armed with four 600mm blades that are able to sever branches measuring up to 230mm in diameter.

Like other implements of this type, there is a tilt ram that allows it to cut vertically or horizontally, and a telescopic function that pushes it up to 2.6m from the centre of the host vehicle. There is also a hydraulic breakaway that allows it to swing back by 55deg if it hits a solid object, after which it will automatically return to the working position.
The cutting head is powered by a 50-litre/min hydraulic motor, with a series of multi-ribbed belts taking drive to each blade. To help counterbalance the weight of the device, four 15kg wafer weights can be slotted onto the right side of the headstock. PJM Agri builds the Mektron Beaver at its workshop near Thetford. Retail price is £15,995.
