JCB adds new 538-70 to Loadall range

JCB is to offer yet another option in its Loadall range – this time with a 3,800kg lift capacity and maximum height stretching a smidge over 7m.

That means the mid-range 538-70 slots neatly between the current 532-70 and 542-70 models.

Lift performance is particularly strong in the 4-6m loading-at-height zone – which is critical for bulk loading of grain into trucks and silage into diet feeders, the company claims – and capacity at full height is between 2,500kg and 2,750kg.

Like all mid-range Loadalls, the new 538-70 is available with a choice of four transmissions, three power outputs and a trio of specification levels.

Bottom of the pile is the Agri variant, which comes with a Torque Lock 4 powershift transmission and the 109hp version of JCB’s Dieselmax 448 engine.

Opting for Agri Super spec ups that to 130hp and opens the option of a six-speed Autoshift gearbox, while Agri Xtra models are rated to 150hp and can be had with DualTech VT, which combines hydrostatic and powershift drivetrain elements in one unit.

Standard equipment across the board includes auto wheel alignment when switching between the three steering modes, and an auto-reversing cooling fan that blows debris away from the air intake grille.

As with most of JCB’s Loadalls, the 140-litre/min load-sensing hydraulics system features gravity regeneration of oil for the retract and lower services to bring the boom down rapidly without sapping power.

Automatic boom suspension is standard on all but the Agri version, where it is an option, and LiveLink telematics is also part of the package.
