Agritechnica 2025: Basak goes to 170hp with six-cylinder 5165

Buyers who care more about budget than brand could bag themselves a sensibly priced 170hp tractor courtesy of Basak.

The Turkish maker has reasonable pedigree in the four-cylinder sector, but the six-pot 5165 takes it into a new pond already occupied by plenty of big fish.

Any concerns about reliability might be allayed with a look at the spec sheet, which features a few familiar names.

The 6.1-litre engine comes from Deutz and puts out 170hp – well up on Basak’s previous top model (120hp).

This is channelled through a Deutz-Fahr-sourced RCshift 30-speed powershift transmission with a top speed of 50kph.

Four rear hydraulic valves are fed by a 120-litre/min pump, rear links are good for a smidge over 9.5t and four pto gears come as standard.

The firm is on the look-out for dealers, having struggled to make a dent in the UK market despite flinging megabucks at several recent Lamma show stands.
