Base spec 105-115hp Valtra A5 tractors get slicker transmission

A number of updates for Valtra’s 105hp A105 and 115hp A115 tractors see the GL base versions with a 12×12 or 24×24 creep manual transmission dropped in favour of the more sophisticated HiTech4 setup.

This power shuttle drivetrain, said to have slicker range shifting than previously, provides four manual or auto powershift steps in each of four ranges for a 16×16/4 configuration, or 32×32/4 when the optional creep box is added.

Autotraction brake-to-stop is included (though it can be disengaged), along with fully electronic operation.

Upgrades for the two models include optional digital technologies filtered down from the rest of the Finnish marque’s range, such as isobus compatibility for setting up and controlling implements through a touchscreen in the cab, and Valtra Guide satellite-based autosteer.

Precision farming apps for as-applied mapping and variable rate spreading, sowing and spraying can be added, SmartTouch Extend with a second 9in display is a new option, and Valtra Connect telemetry for tractor data collection is also available.

An 11% larger fuel tank of 200-litre capacity has been squeezed in to prolong working time between fill-ups, and the cab steps are set at a shallower angle to make getting in and out easier and safer.

Operators will also appreciate a more powerful heating and ventilation system incorporating a roof-mounted air-conditioning system.

Underfloor heating – reckoned to be the most energy-efficient way of warming a cab – remains available.

Bigger rear-view mirrors and an all-LED work light setup complete the upgrades package.
