Massey Ferguson extends 20-65hp compact tractor range

Massey Ferguson’s revamped compact tractor range now extends to nine models in all, covering power outputs from 20-65hp with hydrostatic and all-mechanical transmissions, and open platforms or air-conditioned cabs.

The latest models introduce MF’s “grey sabre” styling and instrument layout and come in “M” higher spec and “E” lower spec versions.

The 1M series now comprises four models from 20-40hp, with the 35hp MF 1M.35 and 40hp MF 1M.40 replacing the prior range’s 1735M and 1740M, and joining the 20hp and 25hp versions introduced last year.

Both newcomers are powered by a 1.8-litre, three-cylinder engine driving through a three-range hydrostatic transmission, and have 1.2t rear implement lift, optional mid-mounted mowing deck and a choice of Rops platform or cab.

By comparison, the MF 1E.40 makes do with 1t lift, 540rpm pto – albeit with electro-hydraulic activation, selectable soft-start and a mudguard-mounted supplementary on-off switch – plus 28-litre/min hydraulics.

The larger 2M series (also replacing equivalent 1700 series tractors) comprises three models of 49hp, 54hp and 65hp from a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder engine.

The former two are available only in cab form while the most powerful machine can have an open platform instead of the air conditioned cab, and hydrostatic drive in place of the power shuttle 12×12 transmission fitted as standard to the two top models.
